SALINA — A 28-year-old Spavinaw woman died at the scene today (Feb. 25) when her vehicle was struck head-on, three miles north of Salina on State Highway 20.

Rebecca Guffey was northbound in a 2000 Ford van at 12:17 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound 1995 Oldsmobile driven by Sandra Walling, 52, of Salina, according to a report from Trooper Brian Gage of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Walling was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and listed in critical condition with trunk and leg injuries.

Walling ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and went back across the roadway, crossed the center line and struck Guffey’s van, according to the report.

Cause of the collision is still under investigation
