Chouteau has red-hot Adair’s number
CHOUTEAU - Just Joshin’ around, Josh Shive, Josh Mahan and Josh Anderson lifted Chouteau to a 66-51 victory here Saturday night and a sweep of Adair, cooling the heels of the hottest team in Mayes County.
Adair, the hottest team in Mayes County coming into Saturday’s game with nine consecutive wins, suffered two of their three losses this season to their archest of rivals.
Shive, a reserve, came off the bench in the second half to score 13 of his game-high 15 points while Anderson and Mahan added 14 and 10. Dwight McElroy was a fourth Wildcat in doubles with 13.
The lead changed hands seven times before Adair built a six-point advantage at the start of the second half (35-29), but Chouteau answered with a 10-3 run to take the lead for keeps at 4:45 in the third period.
In that 10-3 spurt, Josh Anderson scored a lay-up, Mahan netted a 3-pointer, McElroy converted a 3-play play, and Zac Duck stole a rebounded ball from a Warrior in the block and flipped in an easy bucket to make it 39-38.
