Pryor, Cats, LG win baseball openers
Pryor, Chouteau and Locust Grove all won season-opening baseball games this week.
Chris Ashley threw a two-hit shutout Tuesday in Pryor’s 8-0 victory over Grove, featuring a two-run home run by Rowdy Dove.
Trent Soldier struck out 12 batters in six innings with Melissa Maxwell completing the battery Monday in Chouteau’s 9-3 victory over Hulbert. That’s right. Chouteau’s catcher is a girl. And a good one.
Justin Bailey singled to drive in what turned out to be the game-winning run Monday in Locust Grove’s season opening 3-2 victory over Inola that included a two-run homer by Cody Jenkins. Lay coaches Rick Condit and Mike Houser working free of charge.
